When to go: Mid-seasons.
Where to go: The capital Algiers and the Roman ruins along the Mediterranean coast. The Sahara excursions might be good, but still needing more organization to become safe.
Downside: Not yet well prepared for tourism. Some unsafe areas in the desert.
Our Experiences: Algeria is the largest African state. Once under the Carthaginians and the Roman rule, today it´s a Muslim culture country, quite rich and well organized. The Capital Algiers shows a recent past time glamour brought from France. Actually the city looks like a bad preserved South France city overlooking the other side of the Mediterranean Sea. The Jardin d´Essay du Hamma however is the most beautiful City Gardens we´ve ever been to. It was damn beautiful & unexpected! The Roman ruins at Tipasa, boarding the Mediterranean west of Algiers, has also an amazing beauty.
Hotels we love and recommend: Sofitel ( Algiers )
