When to go: Winter or Falls. Totally avoid summer.
Where to go: Taj Mahal and Red Fort.
Downside: The diseases, The lack of infrastructure, The terrible traffic, The bad road conditions; The lack of organization all around; The risks of eating out; The flies, The bad smells everywhere, The noise, The contaminated water ( You need even to brush your teeth using bottled water ) The huge crowds everywhere, The contrasts between the poverty and someone doing tourism (you). If you go in a hot season, add a terrible hot humid deadly weather.
Our Experiences: We stayed in New Delhi for 3 days. We have chosen the best hotel in town, that was like a bunker in the middle of a going on war. Our driver drove us to the city Agra, where the Taj Mahal is located. We took 4 hours to make some 100 Km, due to traffic jams. This includes cars, people and animals crossing the way. There were also out-of-law vehicles (hard to describe) sometimes going in the wrong direction. The next day we visited the Red Fort and one Square in Delhi. And then we decided not to leave our hotel for the next two days. We strongly don´t recommend anyone to visit India.
Hotels we love and recommend: Hyatt ( Delhi)
