Where to go: Mactan Island, Cebu Island and Manila
Downside: Poor country with poor roads and infrastructure.
Our Experiences: Maktan Island is the most developed place for tourists, besides Manila and Boracay. We stayed at the Shagri-la hotel facing the ocean at one of the bst beaches around. This Island is the place where the famous navigator Ferdinand Magellan died 500 years ago. His expedition was the first to circumnavigate the globe. He has earned the glories even though. The best part of Philippines was the Kawasan waterfalls, in Cebu Island. Apart from other waterfalls we know, this one is crystal clear and forms a turquoise lake at the end. All these in the middle of a tropical forest. It was so beautiful ! The access however is a bit difficult.
