Our Experiences: Kiev was the first Slavic state capital, what could be considered as modern Russia. During the Soviet Union period, Kiev was an important and strategic major center, but the nuclear incident of Chernobyl in 1986 has left the biggest and deadliest communist period evil heritage. There is a big museum in Kiev telling us all these recent history horrors. Besides this, Kiev is a modern city with nice parks, shops and beautiful ancient churches. The 11th century St Sophia cathedral is majestic. We wish we could have gone to Yalta in Crimea, but it is now under political dispute with Russia.
Hotels we love and recommend: Fairmont Grand Hotel ( Kiev )
