When to go: From December to June
Where to go: Quito in June and the Galapagos Islands From December to April
Downside: Lack of good hotels and restaurants in Galapagos.
Our Experiences: We went to Quito first, but our biggest interest was to visit the Galapagos islands. Quito is a typical Andean Plateau city in the high altitude. The city stands in both north and south hemisphere at the same time as the Equator Line crosses it. There is a landmark called Marco Zero where people take pictures placing half the body in each side of the earth. Funny stuff. There is a beautiful ancient Jesuits Church to. But the best of Ecuador are the Galapagos Island indeed. It is a strange volcanic land with unique animals walking around. It looks like some George Lucas remote fiction planet. There are also some nice deserted beaches and parks. On these Islands about 150 years ago Charles Darwin has developed his evolutionary theories. Amazing !
Hotels we love and recommend: Marriott (Quito)
