When to go: From November to April ( drier season )
Where to go: Bangkok, Phuket, Ko Phi Phi and Ayutthaya
Downside: Traffic jams and swarms of noisy motorcycles everywhere.
Our Experiences: Thailand has lots of interesting things to do and to see. The gastronomy is excellent. Despite the fact that they eat insects you can find cheap delicious street meals to a high end luxury dinner. Everything tastes good. The temples and palaces are wonderful . The best one for us was the Wat Phra Si Sanphet in the city of Ayutthaya, but the Grand Palace complex in downtown Bangkok is also very interesting. The beaches: Phuket an Ko Phi Phi are a very popular beach destination, getting its reputation after the movie “The Beach“ in 2000. The Thailand Islands are good and relaxing, but don´t expect crystal clear waters like the Caribbean or the French Polynesia. They are ok, but not spectacular. Consider all the filters and effects people apply to photos everywhere today. If you want a perfect beach destination nearby, go to the Maldives instead.
Hotels we love and recommend: Marriott ( Bangkok ) and Hilton Resort ( Phuket
