When to go: From December to March
Where to go: Cancun, Cozumel and Riviera Maya in December/January, Chichen Itza, Baja California from January to March and Mexico City.
Downside: Some unsafe places and some tourist traps.
Our Experiences: Cancun is city built for tourists. The Zona Hotelera is a piece of USA inside Mexico with American Hotels and restaurants. You may eventual visit Mexico as soon as you leave this zone. Cancun is fantastic and it is a must go and a must return. The sea strong turquoise color seems to perfect not to be fake. Amazing! The Cancun sands are the whitest we´ve ever seen and it never gets hot no matter the air temperature or how strong is the sun. Also amazing ! The city has also day and night attractions for all ages. The nearby Cozumel Island and Riviera Maya are also pretty and very popular among tourists. We also loved it. The archaeological Mayan site at Chichen Itza is the best historical site in Mexico. Actually it is one of the modern Seven Wonders. You just need to drive about 2 hours from Cancun. Baja California is not as beautiful as Cancun or Cozumel. The Pacific Ocean coast has dark blue waters and the sands are yellowish.
Hotels we love and recommend: Hilton (Cancun)
