When to go:   September and October

Where to go:  Tiraspol and Bender Fortress.

Downside:  Poor tourism support

Our Experiences:  Transistria is the “Country that doesn´t exist”. The small portion of the Soviet State of Moldova reached the independence in 1991, but they left behind the Transistrian (Russian-speaker) population. Transistria has its self-government since then, but only recognized as a country by Ukraine end by themselves. We made a day trip from Moldova and we even needed tourist visa at the border. The payment was made with their own currency.  In Tiraspol, the capital, there were many Soviet sculptures and quotes, including a big Lenin statue and a Soviet tank. Strange place, but friendly people. The food was also good.
