1) Don’t take those huge Cruise Ships. Unless you really like to get crowded with other 5,000 passengers inside the same building for a week, waiting and disputing for everything you like. Also if you like to sleep in tiny rooms, to eat in huge eateries serving average food, and not to know anything about your destinations, then this is the place. Go for it! But in other hand, if you love luxury hotel rooms with comfortable beds and prestige services and if you like to know the places you are visiting, skip cruises at any cost. (Despite that there are some few small luxury cruising companies, Cruises will allow you to go out only for some hours in each destination and, of course you won’t get to know the place you were meant to go) Instead, simply look for the places or the Islands you want to visit and take a simple flight. Choose three or four destinations and not more. A luxury travel must include the peace and not the rush. Leave some other destinations for a next trip. Aim for for a three to four-night stay in each destination. Next step, simply look for the best hotels and the best restaurants at each of these places. ( Check this post for finding good restaurants anywhere in the world ). For the sea lovers, we recommend then to rent a private speed boat or a Yacht, depending on the circumstances. This way you can step into small islets of your choice, comfortably and without rushing.
2) Never ever choose to travel between the months from July to November. This is the Hurricanes Season in the Caribbean and this is the reason you may have received some promotions during this period. If you do so you will run the risk of not even seeing the sunlight or, worse to get thunderstorms and rough sea. Those unfortunate who have experienced such a situation, they seldom share their pictures, so this hard to find on the web. The best time to be in the Caribbean Islands is between April and May. Some people prefer to go during the winter time (December-January) because of the holydays season. Again if you don’t like very crowded places, choose April or May.
3) Avoid the main touristic destinations if you are looking for luxury. There are some islands that are the preferred destination routes for the cruise ship companies, the so called “ports of call”. These places are meant for the crowds. You may find some average 4-star hotel, but not the super luxury ones . For a top-luxury travel skip these places. Also avoid Cuba, as the communism makes it impossible for any sort of luxury. Many Islands in the Caribbean also don´t have good infrastructure, making them unsafe and then not attracting really luxury facilities, like Jamaica, Haiti and Dominica. We have been to almost every major Island and countries in the region and we can say that the best spots for the high-end luxury are: St Barths, Anguilla and Canouan. These are very exclusive places for the jetsetters and they are strategicaly away from the crowds. And, a I always say, never ever trust a review. So don’t trust me to. Instead, just check these places with your own eyes . See what kind of hotels they carry and how they look like. If you want, check our pictures too, by clicking here.
